Recently a group of Yuva people had been one of the beautiful places near Bangalore Called “Skandagiri”. It is 70 Km Away from Bangalore and we were around 18 people. It was a night trek. We started our journey around 10.30 Pm from Bangalore. We had one car and 6 bikes and it was too cold. In spite that riding bike on airport road was such great experience. In between we took halt for tea. It was full moon night (Poornima), as usual we missed the road but we enjoyed each and every movement of warm weather and reach at Skandagiri around 2 A.M. and started trekking from the base at 2.30 A.M. With lots of hitches and stiffness of the rock we all people reached on top at around 5 P.M. We had some food and enjoyed the camp fire and then we were waiting for the moment that we came for - 'The Sun Rise'. Every one stood upright to experience such a great moment. Lots of people were there along with us. Finally that moment which we were waiting for was there and suddenly fog transferred to cloud in front of our eyes and we were on the top I mean above the cloud. After that Sun entered in such great cloudy environment. It was such great experience and a memorable 0ne. We got the chance to see the beauty of nature. Finally we started our returning journey. In the entire trek everyone was enthusiastic and reached at base around 10 P.M. and returned to home safely with such great memory. We should say thanks to Abhijeet Murty,Aditi and Gourav who arranged such great night trek. I would like to suggest everyone to see Skandgiri once in life.

As an avid trekker to Sahyadri, I would like to know more about Skandagiri. Does it have any history or significance in wars during Shivaji's reign, like forts in Sahyadri? Your photos are excellent. Pl give some reference. Regards.

We had been to skandagiri last week end(29/1/2011).The trek was adventorous and breathe taking too.If planning to go,u should start trek by 2 am and should find a good guide.Ask both up and down trek cost to the guide,I have a number of guide Manjunath, who will guide very carefully.His Numebr : 8197342951
